When $hit Goes Down

birdspooping

Where do you belong when it comes to the workplace ladder? Are you the person shitting on everyone or the one who is taking shit from everyone? I’m not sure about you but this is no way to work. Do we really think it’s worth the humiliation? Are we supposed to conform to this and in the same tone feel bad for pets that are being abused? Aren’t we being abused too? Do we tolerate this because we ‘love our jobs’? What am I missing here? None of this makes any sense to me. Just looking at the picture makes me want to take a very long shower with purified water from the Saints.

Shit doesn’t have to be spewed not by the mouth or by any other part of your body unless it’s because you have to go number 2, at which point go take care of business on your own. And don’t forget to wash your hands! We don’t have to make people feel worthless or insufficient. Just because we wear a title doesn’t mean we can push people around like litter. It’s only a title; it doesn’t mean you are better than anyone or that you are the only one who knows shit.

Being a good CEO, Manager, Supervisor or Founder of an organization doesn’t mean you are the Shit and everyone should eat that up. What it should mean is that you have the knowledge or wisdom to pass the shit down. It’s the only time when passing down knowledge is good shit.

In my many years of being in an office environment, it used to blow me away when I saw someone getting promoted because it wasn’t their job duties they took pride in or took seriously, it was always their new title. I’m the ‘Big Shit’ is how they would walk around the office. But the minute you asked if they completed their work, they’d find a way to fluff it off because they were too busy to get anything done. I wish you could see my facial expression right now as it would reveal my disgust. No wonder staff members opt to do nothing, what’s the point? You won’t get recognized for it and if anything you will probably get in shit for doing it wrong because nobody showed you how to do it right in the first place. So much for management and titles as the business goes down the shitter.

Is this any way to run a business? Just because you are being asked to manage other humans doesn’t mean you get to ride their ass. If you knew your shit, you would know that you are to come up with a plan so that those who fall under you reach the goal that is set out.

I wasn’t privileged to attend university so I often wondered what is being taught to those who walk around professing they have their MBA, PhD etc.  Was there not a course on how to manage people with respect? And if so, what type of people? The type described in textbooks or the everyday Joe/Jane that walk through this universe?

If this sounds like the office environment you work in, you might want to show this post to your boss. Who knows, things could change for the better!

I love giving you shit to think about.

  1. Well, as they say: shit does travel downward, unfortunately a learned behaviour. Perhaps if this article circulates in many offices, shit may hit the fan in a good way 🙂
Sadly, I worked in offices like that where people thought they were the big shit. Well you know what happens to shit don’t you? It eventually gets flushed down the toilet…
